Starboard side looking for'ardA self-tacking foresail is -- to borrow the words of T. E. Brown --
"a lovesome thing". It certainly makes single-handing in confined waters a whole lot simpler.
In contrast to the more conventional type of cutter, Rose Rambler's "slutter" rig means that the inner forestay, like the masthead stay, runs down to the stemhead.
The only major departure from the designed rig is a furling genoa in place of the original No. 1 and No. 2. The genoa sheets lead aft to fixed blocks abaft the cockpit, so barber haulers are used to control the sheeting angle.
