Cockpit & Afterdeck

The centre section of the pushpit doubles as the mainsheet horse with a large bronze bow shackle for a traveller.

The afterdeck was not always as uncluttered as this. One of the very first production Aries Vane Gears (actually No.3) was installed in 1968, and removed "temporarily" in 1984. "What happened to the Aries?" is a common question from people who remember the distinctive plywood wind vane. Self-steering is currently provided by an Autohelm 2000.

Additionally, to help meet the ever increasing demands on the service batteries, a Rutland 913 wind generator is now mounted to starboard.

There was a crew of four aboard -- somewhere -- when these pictures were taken!
